PINES IN LAKE EFFECT SNOW SQUALL This early painting was based loosely on the view from our back porch, though I have taken certain liberties with the placement of the trees. In upstate New York we often get these heavy snow squalls blowing in from Lake Ontario. Strictly speaking, it's not truly a watercolor because I was experimenting with some Chinese white for the snow on the trees. Oddly enough, that becomes more apparent in the photographic medium. Watercolor and gouache, approximately 8 x 10 in., private collection.
