WALNUT INK SKETCHES

INK SKETCHES.  Yesterday I made these sketches using a fountain pen, no. 8 round brush and Tom Norton's Walnut drawing ink. These quick studies were meant to help me find out whether it's possible to translate some of the value drawing techniques I've been learning into line work. The jury is still out. The vision may be the same but the techniques need to be entirely different...when it came time to do the drawing of the nose from the plaster cast (see photo), I had to work entirely in value rather than line.  Both: pen and walnut ink, approximately 6x9-inches.
